Sodium Bromide Powder / Solutions

Sodium Bromide is white colored hygroscopic solid which finds application as catalyst in TEMPO-mediated oxidation reactions. It also possesses anticonvulsant, sedative, & hypnotic properties hence find application in pharmaceutical industries. This compound has chemical formula BrNa with molar mass of 102.89 g/mol and density of 3.21 g/cm3 in anhydrous form. It is also used in combination with chlorine as disinfecting agent for swimming pools.

Sodium Bromide is soluble in alcohol, SO2, ammonia, & hydrazine with insolubility in acetone. It is hygroscopic in nature and has high boiling point of about 1390 degrees Celsius. This is an inorganic compound which also finds application for preparation of dense fluids that are used in oil wells.
